Saturday Snapshot: Orange Azaleas

Despite the rainy weather, the orange azalea in front of our porch is starting to bloom. I love the peachy blossoms!

To participate in the Saturday Snapshot meme, bloggers are asked to post a photo that they (or a friend or family member) have taken, then leave a direct link to your post on the Saturday Snapshot site. Photos can be old or new, and be of any subject as long as they are clean and appropriate for all eyes to see. How much detail you give in the caption is entirely up to you. All she asks is that you don't post random photos that you find online. Thanks to Alyce at At Home With Books for hosting!

  1. That's gorgeous - our azaleas are long gone for this year. When I toured Callaway Gardens several years ago, we were told that orange is the azalea's native color and now you rarely see it.

  5. Oh, my goodness! I've never seen an orange azalea. Ours are beyond the peak here in TX too. I love the feathery edges of azaleas. When I was growing up, we had many of them in our backyard beds - all shades of pink.

  6. Thanks, everyone. Wow, I had no idea that orange is the native color of azaleas -- I grew up with pink and purple! When we lived in Florida, we had a row of deep coral azaleas in front of the house that I loved. I couldn't find that color when we moved to PA, so I settled on this lighter orange!

  10. These are beautiful! I don't think we have any other colour than pink, here! But that seems strange, so I probably never noticed the other colours.

I would love a bit more colour in my garden.

  11. Unusual color - how interesting to learn that this is the native color of azaleas! Makes our pink, purple and whites look dull and common by comparison.

  13. That's a really lovely color. I'm more used to the pink ones too, and whites, but I'd really like one like this.

  18. Very pretty. All I ever see are the pink evergreen azaleas. I had a couple of flowering shrubs die over the nasty winter... an orange azalea would make a nice replacement.
